Andersonville National Historic Site is the site of a major Civil War battle where 13,000 men died. Many of the dead were buried on site in a large cemetary. The site includes a National Prisoner of War Museum, a historic prison site, and the Andersonville National Cemetary.

Andersonville National Historic Site is somewhat dog friendly. Dogs are allowed on trails and roads while on a leash no longer than 6'. Dogs are not allowed in buildings or landscaped or grassy areas of the cemetary.
