Big Hole National Battlefield honors an 1877 battle at this location in which 90 Nez Perce and 31 US soldiers/volunteers were killed.

Big Hole National Battlefield is somewhat dog friendly. Dogs are allowed along paved roads while on a leash, but they're not allowed on trails, and not allowed inside buildings such as the visitor's center. Dogs are allowed to stay behind in your vehicle here, but if doing so, please use utmost caution for the safety of your dog(s).
