People have lived in Canyon de Chelly for almost 5,000 years. Navajo people still make their homes in these scenic canyons. There are several drives through the National Monument that offer multiple scenic overlooks. There are several trails, but they are currently closed, unless you sign up for a hike with a ranger or tour operator.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is not dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed on trails or in the park.
