Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park covers over 184 miles, and preserves the canal that helped transport coal, lumber, and agricultural products to market. The park offers a number of opportunities for recreation and viewing history and nature.
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park is mostly dog friendly. Dogs are allowed on most trails while on a leash, but they are not allowed inside in any buildings.

Trail Policy
Dogs are allowed on many trails while on a leash no longer than 6'. They are not allowed on Billy Goat Trail section A (which would be very difficult for dogs to traverse anyway) and on the boardwalk to Great Falls.
