Cowpens was the site of the only successful double envelopment in the Revolutionary War, where Daniel Morgan's army turned Banastre Tarleton's British army. The park has a Visitor Center with exhibits on the history of the battle, including artifacts, and there are trails through the actual battlefield for visitors to explore.

Cowpens National Battlefield is dog friendly, and dogs are allowed on trails and along roads while on a leash. Dogs are not allowed in the visitor center.
