Fort Stanwix Dog Policy
Fort Stanwix National Monument is Dog Friendly
Fort Stanwix sits on the ancient trail between the Mohawk River and Wood Creek, which is 6 miles long and connects the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Ontario. The trail was used to carry trade and people between territories. Fort Stanwix never surrendered in its history, and repelled sieges and attacks in 1777. However, the original fort was abandoned in 1781.
Fort Stanwix National Monument is dog friendly. Dogs are allowed at all outdoor areas and on trails while on a leash.
