This site preserves the history of Earthlodge people who once hunted bison and farmed in the area. Native Americans also traded furs here long before Europeans arrived.

Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site is dog friendly. Dogs are allowed on trails and at outdoor areas, where you can see remains of several villages. However, dogs are not allowed inside buildings, so you can't see the museum with your dog.

Trail Policy

Dogs are allowed on trails, including the Village Trail, which is 1.3 miles long. Along the trail you can see the remails of several villages.
