Navajo National Monument encompasses canyons and cliffs that have been the homes of Hopi, San Juan Southern Paiute, Zuni, and Navajo peoples for hundreds of years. The base of the canyon was fed by a number of springs and supported farming land.

Navajo National Monument is somewhat dog friendly if you're camping. Dogs are not allowed on trails, so if you're not camping, this is not a place to bring your dog.
