Point Reyes National Seashore preserves rocky beaches with large breaking waves, open grasslands, and forested hills. The Seashore is the home to a large number of plants and wildlife.

Point Reyes National Seashore is somewhat dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed at most places, but there are some trails and beaches they're allowed at (see below). Dogs are laso allowed in the parking lot and picnic area at the visitor center while on a leash no longer than 6'. Dogs cannot be left unattended.

Trail Policy

Dogs are not allowed on most trails here. The only trails they're allowed on are:

  • Kehoe Beach Trail
  • Trails in Niman Ranch/Commonweal area south of the Commonweal Entrance Road and west of Mesa Road

Campground Policy

Dogs are not allowed at campsites.

Beach Policy

Dogs are allowed at several beaches, but must wear a leash. The beaches they're allowed on are:

  • Kehoe Beach - North of Kehoe Beach trail
  • Limantour Beach - Southeast of the parking lot to the beach next to Coast Camp
  • Point Reyes / Great Beach - from the North Beach parking lot south to the Navy Installation.

The National Park Service has a nice map of beaches allowing dogs here.
