The Battle of Stones River started in 1862, and was one of the costliest battles in the American Civil War. Stones River National Battlefield preserves and explores the history of the battle and its impact on the local culture and the Civil War in general. The park offers a trail system to explore the battlefield as well as information in the visitor center.

Stones River National Battlefield is dog friendly, and dogs are allowed at outdoor areas and on trails while on a leash. Dogs are not allowed inside the visitor center.

Trail Policy

Dogs are allowed on trails while on a leash no longer than 6'. There are 7 miles of trails at Stones River National Battlefield, and the trails also connect to the City of Murfreesboro's trail system.
